4. Personal Configuration

Personal configuration include all you runtime settings for KiKbd. You should use kcmikbd program to create and modify you personal configuration. Then you start KiKbd or kcmikbd for the first time it will copy system default configuration to you personal.

4.1 General settings

Keyboards

Using Add and Delete buttons you can create you favorite list of national keyboards. The top keyboard (En as on the picture) become default keyboard when you start KiKbd.

If you use more then two keyboards it is very help-fool to check Use hotlist box. In this case you can switch between hot keyboard and default keyboard using Switch keys and you can change hot keyboard from KiKbd pop up menu.

Switch and Alt Switch

For switching between keyboards you can use this two key combination (by holding Right Control and Right Shift at the same time as on the picture). You can type alternate symbols from current national keyboard if any by holding them with this Alt Switch (Right Alt as on the picture).

Beep

You can listen beep when ever keyboard changed.

4.2 Advanced Options

World Menu

You can have pop up menu in any active window by pressing Switch keys for a long time (hold Right Control and Right Shift as on the picture and wait for pop up menu).

Emulate Caps Lock

For some keyboards (for example Russian) there is some problems with default Xserver Caps Lock behavior. You can set KiKbd to emulate Caps Lock and fix this problem. With emulated Caps Lock you can control Caps state by the color of the KiKbd button instead of the keyboard Led.

Input

You can select one of the:

Save Classes

If you select Input for Classes you can save the keyboard to WM Class association on the end of the each KDE Session and restore it at the beginning of the KDE Session. For example, if you leave Russian keyboard in the Kedit window today, you will get it automatically when you login tomorrow.

4.3 Style

You can customize KiKbd button Font and all of the three colors:

Foreground

Use this color for the text label.

With CapsLock

Use this background color when CapsLock emulation used and it's current state is on.

With Alternate

Use this background color while Alt Switch pressed.

Customize Font

Use custom or KDE wide fonts.

4.4 Startup

Autostart

if this checked KiKbd will be started automatically at the beginning of KDE session.

Docked

If this checked KiKbd will be docked into kpanel.

Place

If you don't like docking, you can choose one of the four corners of your display
